Many refer to the Winchester House as the house "built by ghosts". This is because many of the architectual designs were created to protect Mrs. Winchester from evil spirits.
The secret passageways, for example, were designed to "confuse" ghosts. Mrs. Winchester also had a room where she conducted nightly Seances.
