Today the Alamo stands as an educational and memorial museum that is open for tours. Self guided tours of the Alamo are welcome and visits to the grounds are completely free. The Alamo also offers an orientation film, as well as history talks.
When exploring the history of Texas, you cannot miss a stop at the Alamo. Built in the 18th century, the Alamo was originally designed to be a mission church. With that said, most people best know the Alamo as it relates to the 1836 battle during the Texas' fight for freedom.
