Beaches

 

The Oregon Coast has plenty of scenic and beautiful beaches. Here are a few of interest:

  • Harris Beach State Park (On right)

  • Cannon Beach (be sure to check out the Haystack Rock)

  • Rockaway Beach (Dont miss the Twin Rocks)

 

When visiting the beaches, don't forget to search the tidepools for unique sea finds!

State Parks

 

State Parks are a great place to spend the day hiking, relaxing, or just enjoying the family. Here are a few state parks in the Oregon Coast area:

  • Ecola State Park

  • Hug Point State Park

  • Shore Acres State Park

  • Cape Arago State Park

  • Lost Creek State Park

  • Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area (on left)

  • Seal Rock State Recreation Site

Otter Crest Loop

 

  • A small, 4 mile loop with scenic viewpoints and outlooks

  • Be sure to stop at the Otter Crest State Scenic Lookout and the Devils Punchbowl (Seen on right)

Whale watching

 

The Oregon Coast offers some excellent whale watching opportunities. Here are a few great whale watching locations:

  • Boiler Bay State Wayside

  • Whale watching centre (Depoe Bay)

Hiking

 

Enjoy hiking? There is plenty of that in Oregon too. Here are some trails to notice:

  • Oregon Coast Trail

  • Heceta Head Lighthouse Trail

Watch for Elk

 

  • Groups of Elk can be frequently spotted on the streets and beaches of Gearhart

  • OR watch for elk at the Dean Creek Viewing area in Reedsport where over 100 elk reside year-round

Drive

 

Oregon is very scenic and there are some amazing drives along the coast. Here are some scenic routes to try:

  • Oregon Route 38

  • Three Capes Scenic Drive

  • Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor

  • Yachats Coastline

Thors Well

 

  • A hole in the water that looks like it endless and appears as though it is "draining" the ocean

  • In reality, the hole is only 20 feet deep, but is amazing to admire

  • Note: Thors Well is very dangerous. Please take precaution if visiting
