Throughout Thailand you will find hundreds of Temples that are used for religious and spiritual rituals. Here are a few in North-Eastern Thailand that you may be interested in:

 

  • Wat Neramit Wipatsana Temple

Phu Phra Bat Historical Park

 

  • Found in Udon Thani

  • Known for it's odd but natural rock formations

  • Traces of different civilizations can be found throughout the park

  • Watch for prehistoric rock paintings and Boundary pillars from the Dvaravati period

Sala Kaew Ku

 

  • A site full of spiritual and religious statues

  • A mixture of Buddhism and Hindu ideologies

Phu Pha Ya Cave

 

  • Located just North of Loei City

  • A batcave that holds over 6 million Roundleaf Bats

  • At nighttime, the bats put on a spectacular show as the emerge from the cave to find their meal

Red Lotus Sea

 

  • Located in Udon Thani

  • A tropical flower garden on the lake

  • Home to millions of Lotus flowers

Sam Pan Bok

 

  • Located in Ubon Ratchathani

  • Often referred to as the "Grand Canyon of Thailand"

  • A series of 3000 holes that form a strange alien-like landscape

  • Best visited during dry season when water levels are low

Elephant Graveyard

 

  • In Surin, Thailand

  • The final resting place of Thailand's national symbol, the elephant

  • Over 100 elephants are buried here, each with their own personal grave

Prasat Phanom Run

 

  • Located in Buriram Province

  • Well preserved ruins located on top of an inactive volcano

  • An ancient religious sanctuary built between the 9th and 12th centuries

  • A temple dedicated to the Hindu God, Shiva

Prasat Hin Mueang Tum

 

  • More ancient ruins found in Buriram Province

  • A Hindu Temple over 1000 years old, dedicated to Lord Shiva
