Southern Thailand is known for it's beautiful beaches. Here are a few worth checking out for a day in the sun:

  • Koh Lang Ka Jew (Chumpon Province)

  • Sairee Beach (Koh Tao)

  • Mae Haat Beach (Koh Phangan)

Koh Tao

 

  • A small island off of Chumpon Province

  • Known for it's crystal clear waters and amazing diving/snorkelling opportunities

Temples

 

Temples are a dime a dozen in Thailand. Here are just a few of the many temples in Southern Thailand that can provide you with an authentic Thai experience:

  • Wat  Plai Leam (Koh Samui)

  • Wat Chalong (Phuket)

  • Tiger Cave Temple (Phuket) (on left)

Spirit Houses

 

Spirit houses can be found throughout Koh Samui. They represent small, mini temples and are thought to attract gaurdian spirits. Spirit houses are often a place of worship and prayer, and many people even provide the houses with offerings such as candles, flowers, and foods.

Ang Thong National Marine Park

 

  • Located near Koh Samui

  • Comprised of over 42 islands with limestone cliffs, tropical islands, breathtaking views, and extraordinary beaches

Koh Samui Fishermans Village

 

  • A small beach village that offers cozy accomodations, unique restaurants, shops, and activities

Hin Ta Hin Yai 

 

  • Located in Koh Samui 

  • A series of unique rock formations that are said to resemble male and female genitalia

  • Often called the "Grandmother and Grandfather" rocks

Khao Sok National Park

 

  • A National Park in Surat Thani that is covered by the oldest Evergreen Rainforest in the World

  • Mountain, lakes, caves, valleys, wild animals, and many park activities

Phang Nga Bay

 

  • A beautiful bay most commonly defined by it's vertical standing limestone karsts

  • James Bond Island and Koh Panyee are both located in the Bay

Old Town Phuket

 

  • A historical area of town with shrines, temples, cafes, colonial mansions, museums, and shop houses

  • Home of a mini ex red-light district

Bangla Road

 

  • A popular road in Phuket known for its amazing nightlife

  • The road becomes closed off to traffic at night and becomes a party scene with bars, beers, discos, and loud music

  • Regular street performances

Big Buddha

 

  • A 45 meter tall Buddha found in Phuket

  • 360 degree views of the island

Phi Phi Islands

 

  • A group of 6 islands located on a 45 minute speedboat ride from Phuket or Krabi

  • Turquoise waters, tropical beaches, and beautiful marine life

  • Be sure to check out Maya Bay, filming location of "The Beach" with Leonardo Di Caprio)

  • Phuket cities highest hill, known for it's large population of Macaques Monkeys

James Bond Island

 

  • A famous landmark in Phang Nga Bay

  • As seen in the James Bond movie "The Man with the Golden Gun"

  • A small island off of the Krabi Coast

  • Lagoons, white sandy beaches, coral reefs

  • Excellent location for snorkelling and scuba diving

  • No overnight stays allowed
