NEW PROVIDENCE - FREE AND FUN

Clifton Heritage National Park

The Clifton Heritage National Park is located in the Western Tip of New Providence. Some points of interest in the park are Slave Village, the Wetlands, and the Banana hole. The park is also home to "Jaws Beach" where the movie Jaws: the Revenge was filmed in 1987. Clifton National Park is also a popular place for hiking, swimming, and snorkelling. If snorkelling, be sure to explore the massive underwater sculptures!

Walk the Queen's Staircase

The Queen's Staircase is a huge part of Nassau history. Located within the Fort Fincastle Historic Complex, the stairs were built to be used as a direct route from fort to fort in case of an attack. The staircase stands 102 feet tall and took over 16 years to build with hand tools and pick axes. The staircase was built completely by slaves, and was named in honor of Queen Victoria when she abolished slavery in 1837.

Go to the Beach

Okay, so this one is obvious. If you're in the Bahamas, it's difficult to ignore the white sandy beaches with water as clear as glass. Some of the more popular beaches in New Providence include Saunders Beach, Cable Beach, and Love Beach (among many more). If you're not into relaxing on the shoreline, there are many fun water activities like snorkelling, scuba diving, jet skiing, and more!
