GRAND BAHAMA ISLAND
FREE AND FUN
Lucayan National Park
Lucayan National Park spans over 40 acres. It is home to one of the largest underwater cave systems in the world. While some of these systems are open for viewing, swimming is not allowed. Those who wish to dive here must first obtain a special permit. With that said, the caves are great for viewing, and there are many hiking trails that lead to excellent photo opps.

Boiling Point
Sometimes referred to as the "Boiling Hole", the boiling point is home to bubbling and burping waters. While science shows that these burps and bubbles are caused by tidal conditions, legends state that they are actually caused by a sea monster! Baby sharks, rays, and a variety of bird species can often be found here.

Bird Watching
Grand Bahama is a heaven for bird lovers. In all of the Bahama Islands, Grand Bahama holds the 2nd highest number of native bird species. Some favorites among birders include the Bahama Yellowthroat, the Bahama Swallow, and the Bahama Woodstar (among many more).
If you are familiar with the island, you can go birding on your own. Points of interest may include the Rand Nature Center, Paradise Cove, and Garden of the Groves (to name just a few). If you are not familiar with the island, several tours are available. Tours are available at the website listed below.

Shark Alley
Freeport, in Grand Bahama, is home to the famous "Shark Alley". As one could assume from the name, this is a spot where shark sightings are abundant. A variety of different shark species flock to the area in hopes of a free meal.
Many glass bottom boat tours, boat excursions, and diving companies will take you to shark alley, but those familiar with the area may choose to take their own boat. Be aware if you opt to go without a tour guide - these sharks are not shy and will often bump the boat or swim right up to divers.
