REYKJAVIK, ICELAND

    FREE AND FUN

Take a City Walk

The Walking tours of Iceland are "free" in the sense that there are no set upfront fees. All tour guides are paid on a donation basis at the end of the tour - as such, they need to provide a great tour and work to entertain you for their donations! Classic walking tours focus on the history of Iceland. Also available are "free" pubcrawls and "walk the crash" tours.

Take a Literary Walk

The Dark Deeds Literary Walk is hosted by the City Library and focuses on crime tales and ghost stories of the area. The entire walk lasts approximately 1.5 hours and is held on specific days during certain months (see website for details).

Witness the Northern Lights

The Northern Lights are an amazing celestial light show in the air. They occur year round, but can only be seen when it is dark (clear winter nights). If you are familiar with your surroundings, you can view a free show. If you are new to Reykjavik you can hire a tour operator who can help you find the perfect viewing area.
