Devils Postpile National Monument 

 

The Devil's postpile is a protected formation, and is a rare sighting in the geological world. The Postpile is made of basalt, and consists of many columns that stand over 60 feet tall.

Go Stargazing

 

If you love the feeling of looking up at the big open sky, you'll enjoy a visit to the Fresno Planetarium. The Observatory has regular weekend shows where you can view star clusters, planets, nebulae, and more. While admittance is not completely free, it is only a small fee.

Follow the Wine Trail

Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks

 

Sequoia and Kings Canyon Parks are often referred to as the "land of Giants" and are known for homing the world's largest trees. But trees aren't the only Giants in this world, these two National Parks are also known for their large mountain ranges, deep canyons, and rugged foothills. They are located just outside of Fresno.

Yosemite Falls

 

If you are in the area, a trip to Yosemite National Park is a must! It is home to Giant Sequoias, lakes, rivers, rock formations, and the oh-so-famous Yosemite Falls. Aside from sightseeing, many people who visit Yosemite also birdwatch, fish, hike, rock climb, or even ride horseback. Guided tours are available. Entrance fees may apply.
