Petroglyphs Provincial Park

 

At the Petroglyphs Park you will find all of the regular activities that Provincial parks have to offer (birding, hiking, camping, fishing, etc.) along with the largest collection of Aboriginal rock carvings in Canada. Known as the "teaching rocks" these petroglyphs depict humans, birds, turtles, and much more.

Hike the Sculpture Forest in Haliburton

 

If you enjoy art and nature, the Sculpture Forest combines both in a trail that highlights the works and sculptures of Canadian and international artists. The trail is available for both walking and biking. Tours are free, but donations are always welcome.

Try some Pie at the Big Apple

 

The Big Apple, located in Colborne Ontario, is the world's largest apple! Here you can buy a loaf of bread or a pie and watch them be baked right in front of your eyes! The Big Apple also has a variety of outdoor activities that are free to guests. Additional activities include:

The Warsaw Caves Conservation Area

 

This conservation area gets it's name from the 7 different caves that are found within the park. Bring along a headlamp and spend the entire day exploring these underground treasures or enjoy some of the other activities within the area (hiking, canoeing, swimming, picnicing, etc).

 

A small fee for permits may be required upon entrance to the conservation area.

Visit the Riverview Park and Zoo

 

The Riverview park and Zoo is over 55.5 acres and features over 48 different species of animal. It also offers a variety of activities including train rides, splash pads, frisbee golf, walking trails, and more. Admission? Completely free!

Cycle the Trans Canada Trail

 

The Trans Canada Trail connects over 150 different communities and is available for paddling, walking, hiking, or biking

Prehistoric World

 

Morrisburg Ontario is home to Prehistoric World, a land that features over 50 lifesize dinosaur models. The trail runs over 1km and takes approximately 1 hour to walk. A small fee of $8 per adult, $4 per child, and $6 per senior is applicable.

Tour Parliament Hill and see the library, Centre Block, East block, and more! Guided tours of Parliament Hill are free but are offered on a first come, first serve basis. Plan to arrive early as tours fill up quickly!

Tour Mica Mine

 

Over 140 feet deep, the Mica Mine started in 1903 and closed in 1920. The Mine is open seasonally and offers tours throughout the season. Check website for details.
